Known informally as the “
Freshman Bible,” the
Handbooks are a source for both academic and social regulations and provide valuable insight into students’ lives and the (ever-changing) social mores at the College, regardless of time period. And, it should be noted that, Freshman, as a condition of enrollment, were required not only to read the
Handbook but also pass a test on its contents (see
Nancy Jane Wiedenman '58 - "scrapbook," 1954-1960, pp.20a-c and 26a-g).
