Description
This scrapbook documents primarily Nancy Cutting’s freshman year at Skidmore College, during which time she was starting her work towards the completion of a Business degree. Comprised of cards, programs, notes, newspaper clippings, pamphlets and various ephemera, the scrapbook provides a glimpse into the life of a student in the post-war era.
Local Note
Nancy Cutting, Class of 1952, was a Business major from Cleveland Heights, OH, and an active student. At various points during her time at Skidmore, she served as Vice-President of Thompson House; Co-Editor of the “Post-Bib;” Freshman Adviser; Vice President of the Business Club; President of North Hall; Assistant Social Chairman; Circulation Manager of the “Skidmore News;” and, for three years in a row, as a member of the May Queen’s court. Her yearbook entry reads: Nancy . . . "Three years she grew in sun and shower" . . . stately composure, unruffled charm and the realm of beauty . . . sign out slips for a week in advance ... a triple honk every night . . . "That’s for sure” . . . nightly exercises and a sundeck ritual ... a gracious smile; a gracious girl.
