Description
This voluminous scrapbook documents Jane Louise Thurwood’s freshman through senior years at Skidmore College, and is comprised of some unique ephemera from various college events, as well as numerous newspaper clippings, programs, invitations, cards, photographs and various memorabilia, such as her freshman bib, matchbooks, ticket stubs and dried corsages.
Local Note
Jane Louise Thurwood, Class of 1939, was a Liberal Arts major from Utica, New York. Active in student groups and publications, she was Assistant Circulation Manager of the “Skidmore News” her sophomore year, taking over as Circulation Manager her junior and senior years, at which time she began to write occasional articles for the paper. Jane was a member of both the Freshman and Sophomore Literary Groups, and was also a member of the Spanish Club and Discussion Club during each of her four years at Skidmore. Her yearbook entry reads in part: “The busy bee…got so much work to do…outside reading must be done…I’m just poohed…worry, worry…remember me?...the Pharm at 9:30…have to be a Phys. Ed. To get at the mail-box…”
