Legacy society Honor the past. Provide for the future. 1931 [photograph] Lucy Skidmore Scribner leaves most of her estate to Skidmore. Today, her former residence is home to President Philip A. Glotzbach and his wife, Marie. 1959 [photograph] Carl Bauer, a riding instructor for 25 years, leaves a bequest to Skidmore to fund a scholarship. In 2009 Vishal Kapadia '10 was the 50th recipient of support from the Carl Bauer Scholarship Fund. 1967 [photograph] Frances Steloff, New York City literary maven, establishes the Steloff Lecture Series. She later expands its funding through a bequest. The annual lecture brings outstanding literary and artistic talent—including playwright Arthur Miller (above) in 1988. 1990 [photograph] Etta Van Dyke Tuthill ’32 leaves a bequest that supports studio-art faculty through an endowed professorship. Paul Sattler (above) is the current holder of the Tuthill Chair. Among his awards and honors is a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006. 1999 [photograph] Louise Benton Wagner '59 leaves a bequest to endow a scholarship fund. Scholarships have aided thousands of students throughout Skidmore's history-including Becky Schneider '09 (above), the 2008-09 recipient of the Wagner Scholarship. 2006 [photograph] Arthur Zankel, Skidmore parent and former trustee, leaves a transformational bequest, part of which is used to help create the Zankel Music Center.
