Local Note
Henry Galant, professor and chair of the Government department, served at Skidmore from 1954 through 1986. He is credited with founding Skidmore’s Government department. Former Dean of Faculty Eric Weller described Henry as, “Always outspoken, sometimes irascible, never unforgiving, Henry’s contribution to the College has been to serve as the community gadfly, reminding the faculty when it appears forgetful of its prerogatives and responsibilities, and chastening the administration when it oversteps theirs.”
