Local Note
Eleanore Galant served as an assistant in the Office of the President and as director of publications, working at Skidmore from 1954 until 1986. She was married for 64 years to Henry Galant of the Government department. Eleanore and Henry were famous at Skidmore for bringing together students and faculty at their frequent dinners and parties, with Eleanore presiding as chef. Their social events encouraged intellectual discourse and camaraderie that are often cited as a favorite and formative memory of Skidmore by those lucky enough to attend.
