Miriam Benkovitz was born in 1911 and was an English professor at Skidmore from 1946 until 1977. She died in 1986. Her biographies of Ronald Firbank, Frederick Rolfe, and Aubrey Beardsley, which she wrote while at Skidmore, were all critically acclaimed and featured on the covers of the NYT Sunday Book Review.
